        Short version: We don't sell your data. We collect minimal information through standard analytics tools to understand how the Site is used and to improve it. Your location data is only used in-browser to find nearby restaurants and is never sent to our servers.

AMEXDining.org is an independent, unofficial website. "We", "our", and "us" refer to the operators of AMEXDining.org. We are not affiliated with American Express.

If you submit a message through our contact form, we collect:

Your email address
The content of your message

This information is used solely to respond to your inquiry. We do not add you to any mailing list or share it with third parties.

2b. Automatically Collected Information

When you visit the Site, standard web server and analytics tools may automatically collect:

IP address (anonymized)

Operating system
Pages visited and time spent
Referring URL
General geographic region (derived from IP, not precise location)

2c. Location Data

If you click "Use My Location", your browser may share your precise geolocation with the Site. This data is used only within your browser to center the map and find nearby restaurants. It is not transmitted to or stored on our servers.

We use browser local storage (not traditional cookies) to remember your map preferences (e.g., last searched location, filter settings) so the Site feels consistent between visits. This data stays on your device and is never transmitted to us.

Third-party services embedded in the Site (Google Maps, Google Analytics) may set their own cookies. See Section 4 for details.

4. Third-Party Services

Google Maps Platform — We use the Google Maps JavaScript API to display the restaurant map. Your use of the map is subject to Google's Privacy Policy.

Google Analytics — We use Google Analytics to understand aggregate traffic patterns (page views, session duration, device types). Analytics data is anonymized and aggregated. You can opt out using the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.

Formspree — Contact form submissions are processed by Formspree, a third-party form service. Submitted data is subject to Formspree's Privacy Policy.

5. How We Use Your Information

To respond to contact form messages.
To analyze aggregate Site usage and improve the user experience.
To maintain the Site's performance and security.

We do not sell, rent, or share personal information with advertisers or other third parties for marketing purposes.

6. Data Retention

Contact form messages are retained only as long as needed to respond to your inquiry, typically no more than 12 months. Analytics data is retained in accordance with Google Analytics' default retention settings.

7. Your Rights

Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have rights to access, correct, or delete personal data we hold about you. To exercise these rights, contact us via the contact form. We will respond within 30 days.

8. Children's Privacy

The Site is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has submitted personal data to us, please contact us so we can delete it.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The effective date at the top of this page reflects when it was last revised. Continued use of the Site after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
